Somewhere, an orchestra is warming up.
The wooden throat of an oboe plays a piercing 'A'
it fills your ears like warm water in a bathtub,
if you hold your nose and pop your ears,
you'll hear the tuba droning at a distance
and if you drum at the porcelain tub with your fingernails
you'll hear the timpani calling you home
I bought a keyboard almost two years ago and I still don't know how to play it
just like I still can't find the beat in music, even when my girlfriend taps it out against my collar bone, leading an arrhythmic life isn't as romantic as it sounds
I keep humming Dance Yourself Clean and my girlfriend keeps asking me why I'm humming Crazy Train, I'm not making this shit up
It's hard to tell what's my heart and what's the beat, and I'm not sure I can keep track of either.
I'm probably gonna be living alone soon, I'm not sure if I can handle this, I'm not sure how long the music can keep me sane. Just focus in on the beat.
1, 2, 3, 4,
all I know is that I need to get out of Utah County,
1, 2, 3, 4
out of the mormonism
1, 2, 3, 4
out of the judgmental looks,
1, 2, 3, 4
out of this house
Somewhere,
I dance to music in my pajamas now, this is kind of a new thing for me
I also sing along to music, like actually sing
At queer prom I got my friend to play my girlfriends' and I's song,
the crowd just got confused and stopped dancing because they couldn't figure out if it was a slow dance or not,
we didn't really care because we were too busy spinning each other,
I think I'm still spinning
Sometimes my pills make me dizzy right after taking them,
truth is I like it, don't know why
Now isn't the time for questions anyway.
Turn up the volume,
let's drown them all out
