All you've ever wanted

Dear you,

You've been gliding down the streets while dreaming,
like a ghost looking for her lost lover.

So cold,
so numb.

Not yourself,
not anything really.

It's all you've ever wanted, the city.
It ebbs and flows with the blocks,
You ebb and flow with the blocks

It's May, but your fingers are that kind of cold that's hard to shake out.
That kind of cold that wakes up a part of you that you didn't realize was asleep.

You think you like it, You think you love it.
But it doesn't feel at all like one would think.

Your childhood bedroom sits still, empty.
Light traveling far, too far; to settle into an empty room.

But at least you know it's still there.
You know about the light.

You know about the PA system that bellows ringing church bells though the town, every hour on the hour. You know: they can be heard from the window of that bedroom if you listen. Really listen.

You think, that maybe, just maybe, you can hear them from the city.
As you wander the streets, wind in your ears,
If you listen. Really listen.

Glide with the asphalt,
left right, left right.

You know about the light.
